Meeting your Costs

Costs and Payment

Dental care is a complex service and to keep things simple for the majority of routine treatments, we charge for time taken rather adding together a long list of fees for individual items. There are only a few treatments which carry a fixed fee.

  • We only charge for the time we spend with you - if significantly less time is taken than estimated, you will be charged less accordingly.
  • We will not normally charge you more for modest overrunning of an appointment.
  • The time charge includes an element to cover the time needed by the surgery nurse to carry out proper cross infection control measures in compliance with HTM01-05 regulations after your visit and before the next patient.

More information on our fees is available from reception, but accurate costs for treatment can normally only be given in most cases after the dentist has examined you and discussed with you the options available.

We know that patients look for a choice in how they pay for their dental care and with this in mind we have three different alternatives for you to pay for your treatment.

Pay-As-You-Go

As the name suggests, we provide you with an estimate for the cost of your treatment, and charges are rendered and payable at each visit. We accept payment by cash, cheque or credit/debit card. If you have any queries about the way we have calculated your treatment charges please direct these to the dentist providing your treatment, who will explain them to you.

Denplan Essentials®

Adults can join at any time, a regular monthly fee is paid by direct debit which, in accord with recommendations related to your clinical needs, entitles you to
1 or 2 check-ups per year with the dentist and if required,

  • Either 2 or 4 scale and polishes with either the dentist or the hygienist (after your first course of treatment)
  • AND a 15% discount - starting immediately on joining - off normal pay-as-you-go charges for all other treatment.

Denplan Care for Adults®

For a regular monthly fee, assessed by the dentist according to criteria set down by Denplan®, and paid by direct debit ALL dental care required to maintain dental and oral health is covered. A reasonable standard of dental and oral health must be established and paid for in the normal way BEFORE you can join Denplan Care®. This means that once health is initially achieved, there is seldom need to worry about the cost of a dental visit as it is already paid for by the monthly fee.

Childrens Dental Care

Up to the age of 18 years we make no charges for childrens checkups and polishes providing at least one parent attends regularly for their own dental care. Similarly we have major concessions for children's general treatment when they are part of a regularly attending family, including eligibility for our Denplan Childrens Plan...

Denplan Plans for Children

For a regular low monthly fee, paid by direct debit, ALL dental care required to maintain dental and oral health is covered. Children can join Denplan immediately and there is seldom need to worry about the cost of a dental visit as is already paid for by the monthly fee.

NB. In the case of Denplan CARE for adults and childrens plans, cosmetic treatment, laboratory charges, private specialist referrals, orthodontics, implants and pharmacy costs are not covered by Denplan®, and the dentist has the right with the patient’s knowledge and agreement to exclude from cover other specific items of care and treatment which are regarded as unsuitable for the contract cover.

Both systems offer big advantages depending on your individual circumstances over the simple pay-as you-go option. Ask at reception for more information.
