Meeting your Costs

Costs and Payment

Dental care is a complex service and to keep things simple we have, for the majority of routine treatments, a time-charging framework, rather than a long list of fees for individual items. There are only a few treatments which carry a fixed fee.

  • We only charge for the time we spend with you rather than adding together multiple fees for different items of treatment.
  • If significantly less time is taken than estimated, you will be charged less accordingly.
  • The time charge includes an element to cover the time needed by the surgery nurse to carry out proper cross infection control measures after your visit and before the next patient.
  • We will not normally charge you more for modest overrunning of an appointment.

More information on our fees is available from reception, but accurate costs for treatment can normally only be given in most cases after the dentist has examined you and discussed with you the options available.

We know that patients look for a choice in how they pay for their dental care and with this in mind we have three different alternatives for you to pay for your treatment. Payment options are available for adults and children.

Pay-As-You-Go

As the name suggests, we will provide you with an estimate for the cost of your treatment and you simply pay for each appointment according to the estimate.
We do not normally allow credit – treatment should be paid for as it is provided. If you have any queries about the way we have calculated your treatment charges please direct these to the dentist providing your treatment, who will explain them to you.

Our in-house ‘Smilecare’ payment plans

With this scheme, which you can join as a member at any time and is open to children and adults, a monthly fee will entitle you to 2 check-ups per year with the dentist and either 2 or 4 scale and polishes with either dentist or hygienist (after your first course of treatment) AND 15% discount - starting immediately on joining - off normal pay-as-you-go charges for all other treatment.
